Philanthropy

The Company has supported The Arts in the UK for many years; beneficiaries have included the City & Guilds of London Institute and Art School, Edinburgh College of Art, The Royal College of Art, and The Royal School of Needlwork.  In the musical category, grants have been provided for The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, The Royal Overseas League, Grange Park Opera, Pimlico Opera, English National Ballet and the Watermil Theatre to name but a few.

One of the most memorable projects was the recreation of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the Southbank in 1997, which was supported by many livery companies.  It is notable that the current Theatre is the first and only thatched roof building in London since The Great Fire.
