So much of what defines Boutcher and makes it special result from the kindness of the Dyers.
Our current educational relationships date from the last century; the oldest being our connection with Norwich School which began in the aftermath of WWII.
In the latter part of the 20th century, City Livery Companies were keen to form links with individual schools, particularly those in the adjacent boroughs of Hackney, Islington, Tower Hamlets and Southwark. Our three schools have become a major focus for our charitable support. In addition to funding, we provide School Governors and the time of our Liverymen; support that goes way beyond the financial.
We currently support the Boutcher Church of England Primary School in Southwark, St Saviour’s & St Olave’s Church of England school in Southwark and Norwich School, with their arts, music, literature and enrichment curriculum, in addition to bursaries.
Support for higher education
Our support for universities and higher education goes back a long way. We currently provide funds to City St George’s, Nottingham Trent University, Heriot-Watt University, City & Guilds of London Art School, Royal Mathematical School, Middlesex University, Edinburgh College of Art, Bradford Textile Society, Leeds University and De Montfort University, and we provide scholarships and bursaries for Arkwright Engineering Scholarships and Cockpit Studios.
